For nearly 30 years, Terry
Cook has been an educator for Special Education (mentally handicapped and deaf
education) and at both elementary and secondary levels for high-risk youths.
She earned her BS in Education from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and her
Master's Degree from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
She is a member of SCBWI -
Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators. Among her achievements,
Cook has been recognized as the Seminole County Middle School Teacher of the
Year in FL, a Disney Teacheriffic recipient, and a member of the USA-Today, (Gannet
Publishing) All-USA Teacher Teams. Terry Cook is a former President of the
Women's Caucus for Art, Florida Chapter and has been a workshop presenter at
local, state and national levels on how to infuse the arts into curriculum to
reach at-risk students.
Cook has illustrated and
co-authored four educational books; Dear Diana: Travel with Me to China, Dear
Diana: Travel with Me to Ukraine, Dear Diana: Travel with Me to Egypt, and Dear
Diana: Travel with Me to Costa Rica. These books are the first in an on-going
series of high interest, low-level reading books for geography using FL State
Standards.
Currently, Terry Cook is
writing and illustrating children's books for Guardian Angel Publishing.
Recently published is a darling tale based on an experience a family member had
with a moose at a bus stop. A Moose at the Bus Stop was published by Guardian
Angel Publishing, Inc. in March 2013 and is available at
amazon.com.
It is her intent to author
and illustrate superior quality books for young readers that engage, inform,
entertain, and inspire children to ask, "How can I learn more?"
